Honors & Awards

Bert and Cindy have both earned the Master of Photography degree and the Photographic Craftsman degree from the Professional Photographers of America (PPA), the world’s largest photographic association. Among their numerous awards for portraiture, Cindy has been Illinois Photographer of the Year , PPA Photographer of the Year and recipient of both the Kodak Gallery Award and the Fuji Masterpiece Award. Bert was presented the International Award by PPA and Portrait Photographer of the Year by the International Photographic Council at the United Nations in New York. He also served as president of the 30,000+ member Professional Photographers of America.

 

History

 Our business was founded in 1956 as Behnke Studios in Cicero, Illinois by Al & Connie Behnke, Bert’s parents, in 1964 it was renamed Behnke Photographers and relocated to Frankfort. Bert Behnke purchased the studio in 1985. Cindy joined the business in 1991 after beginning her career in southern Illinois. In January, 2002, Bert and Cindy opened their dream studio in Frankfort Township/Mokena where they operated it until October of 2016 when they made the move to the historic downtown of Frankfort, their next dream!
